dc.description The author describes his experience as a Greek Orthodox priest working in the field of medicine. While in medical school, the author had the opportunity To work in a laboratory that sought to provide to government authorities the results of genetic testing regarding paternity. Although his role in the entire process was minimal, he confronted several ethical issues involving informed consent, autonomy, and freedom. In addition, he often found himself in difficult situations where being a priest and a celibate complicated his obligations as a staff member in the laboratory.
