New England Female Medical College Annual Reports
Permanent URI for this collection
The Female Medical Education Society founded the New England Female Medical College (NEFMC) in 1848 and awarded the MD degree to 98 women graduating between 1854-1873. Facing mounting financial problems, the NEFMC then merged with Boston University, becoming the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM). The first graduating class of BUSM (including both men and women) received their degrees in 1874.
The Society/College published regular reports between 1851-1873. These documents have been digitized, and are now available in this collection.
