It deals with the marvelous life in paradise and enjoins people to repent and follow God’s instructions so that they can access paradise when they die.

    Kulufin Karlaa: Special Bilingual Prayers

    The manuscript is a bilingual Arabic-Mandinka Ajami document that the owners call Kulufin Karlaa. It is copied from the original by El-hadji Kemo Bonko Faty. It deals with special formulas that combine Islamic prayers with traditional Mandinka incantations to address people’s concerns, including protection from Satan, evil spirits, and other local concerns. The incantations in the text are characterized by repetitions.
