dc.description.abstractThis study is an investigation of the relationship between Yoruba culture and formal education in Nigeria. The purposes of the investigation are as follows: 1. To identify the aims and goals of the Yoruba culture; and to examine the relationships between those aims and goals and those of the formal education 9 and between theory and practice. 2. To identify and examine the consistencies and inconsistencies between the Yoruba value patterns and those of formal education. 3. To examine the possibility of identifying some elements in the Yoruba traditional culture which could be incorporated into the present educational system. 4. To suggest possible means of integration in order to obviate, or alleviate the intensity of, the identified inconsistencies.en_US
