    Abstract
    It is the objective of the writer in analyzing the present personnel system of Tennessee to make a contribution toward better government there. This study includes an analysis of the administration of Tennessee's merit system from its beginning in 1937 through 1950. It also analyzes Federal-State and State-Local relations in personnel adrainistration in this state. The study concludes with an appraisal of the program of the Tennessee merit system today.
