    Abstract
Daily life in our first language (L1) is plagued by current events. News surrounds us and is on all our devices. These current events constantly remind us of the condition of the environment, what we can do to reserve it, changes in the political climate and the many natural disasters that seemingly never cease. This article proposes to incorporate this information into the classroom and format it into an online magazine in order to work with it in a Spanish as a foreign language course using Flipboard. This activity seeks to develop learners’ reading comprehension and expand knowledge of the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures while training 21st-century citizenry in the information society we live in.
