The present study was undertaken to assess the effect of the tongue on tooth position, arch form, and growth of the mandible. Two groups of seventeen ten day old albino rats were used for this project. In one group a section of the tongue was removed just lateral to the midline and extending to the region of the first molar. The second group consisted of the sham operated animals or controls. The mandibles in each or these groups were then compared anatomically and anthrometrtcally. [TRUNCATED]
