Abstract
The thesis attempts to construct Swinburne's poetics through an explication of two poems, "Thalassius" and "On the Cliffs," published in Songs of the Springtides in 1880, and to show the relation abetween his critical principles as extracted from his prose writings and the theory of poetry and creative imagination derived from these two poems.[TRUNCATED]
