Abstract
The purpose of this investigation is to explore the role of periapical stereoscopic radiographs with particular reference to the endodontically-involved tooth. This will entail an investigation of the theoretical basis of the method, a review of the methods used in the past and an attempt to duplicate and/or innovate the steps that are necessary to produce periapical stereoradiographs with a view to improving their accuracy, reproducibility and ease of generation.
Finally, the practicality of stereoscopic radiographs in endodontics will be evaluated, i.e., their incorporation into 1) the daily clinical setting, 2) the teaching experience and/or 3) a teaching atlas.
