Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate certain psychological characteristics of children who have been exposed
to the type of family disruption that occurs when a parent is chronically ill and remains in the home. The specific illness focussed upon, as a representative of this class of disease, was multiple sclerosis (M S), a chronic, progressively disabling neurologic disorder that strikes the young adult population in an apparently random way.
