Abstract
A comparative analysis of the marginal fit (integrity) of dental gold castings fabricated on three different die materials was recorded. The three die materials used in this investigation were Die-Keen, Divestment, and Roc Model. A total of thirty-six castings were made, twelve for each group of the three different die materials. The castings and the master die were analyzed with a calibrated light stereomicroscope. Analysis of the data revealed significant differences in the marginal fit of the castings relative to the three different die materials. Marginal fit of the castings fabricated on the Divestment were superior to those fabricated on either the Die-Keen or Roc Model die materials. During the course of this investigation valuable information was obtained with regard to the fabrication of gold castings by the Divestment technique and the conventional (pulled pattern) technique.
