Abstract
Prodigal Daughter is a collection of poems retelling and reflecting upon ancient and contemporary stories, ranging from creation myths to reality television to last Saturday night out. These stories are told in a central voice that adapts to the particularity of circumstance, while adhering to the fundamental goal of decoding mythologies that incorporate and enact inherited assumptions: what we are told it means to belong to a gender, ethnicity, nationality, time.
