Abstract
Tau pathology is an important contributor in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease (AD), a progressive neurodegenerative illness characterized by cognitive deterioration. Although the strong connection between AD and cardiovascular disease (CVD) has been demonstrated by extensive study, the underlying mechanisms are still not fully understood. This study investigates possible pathological intersections by examining the link between tau pathology and CVD using mice models. We examine the effects of cardiovascular failure on tau aggregation, neuroinflammation, and neuronal degeneration using molecular, histological, and imaging techniques on mouse models. Our research aims to better understand the mechanisms by which tauopathy is made worse by vascular pathology, contributing to in the development of AD. Knowing this relationship could help identify new treatment targets for reducing the neurodegeneration caused by AD and CVD.
