Abstract
Forrest Reid (1876-1947), an Anglo-Irish novelist from Belfast, critic of art and literature, and translator of poems from the Greek Anthology, is one of the most imaginative and significant minor modern novelists, although he has remained comparatively unappreciated in America.
Because of his complete individualism, his dedication to his art, and his personal vision of reality, he cannot be identified with any literary movement or school. Reid is essentially a romantic and a visionary who was so inspired by the Greeks that his Hellenism became a personal conviction as well as a literary convention. [TRUNCATED]
