Abstract
The purpose of this dissertation is to state, compare, and evaluate the Christologies of Henry Orton Wiley, Reinhold Niebuhr, and William Norman Pittenger in order to determine which has offered the Christology which has the highest degree of probability of truth.
The criterion by which evaluations are made is coherence. By coherence is meant consistency and systematic inclusiveness. Negatively, a belief may not be accepted if it is internally inconsistent or if it is inconsistent with other accepted beliefs or with experience. Positively, a belief may be accepted if it is internally consistent, consistent with the known facts of experience and with the other propositions regarded by the thinker as true, and capable of establishing interpretive relations between experiences.
