This meant that Gold Coast was going to be an Archdiocese with suffragan dioceses. William Thomas Porter was consecrated the first Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cape Coast for the Gold Coast (present day Ghana). The suffragan dioceses were: Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, and Keta.
