D.)--Boston UniversityThe central problem of this study is to trace the development of the idea of the responsible society in the discussions within the Ecumenical movement and to analyze its nature, content, and usefulness. The idea of the responsible society emerged following the Second World War in the discussions focused upon the search for a resolution of the problems of the social and international orders. The idea of the responsible society as formally conceptualized in the "Report of Section III" of the Amsterdam Assembly incorporates the polarity of the social order between freedom and equality under the normative ideal of responsibility.
