Long-Evans hooded rats were subjected to experimental gingivectomy or extraction procedures; cyanoacrylate monomer was applied post-surgically as an aerosol or wet dressing with suitable controls employed. Two hundred and fifty animals, including controls, survived for examination sixteen to twenty-five months post-operatively, and form the basis for the hematologic and histopathologic observations. Blood studies were essentially normal compared to baseline data. There was no indication of a polymer residuum at superficial or deep application sites, nor was evidence found to substantiate a local neoplastic effect of applied isobutyl-2-cyanoacrylate.en-USThis work is protected by copyright.
