We show that spin frustration stabilizes a bond-ordered (dimerized) state for U≈V/2 up to U/t≈9, where t is the nearest-neighbor hopping. The transition from the dimerized state to the staggered charge-density-wave state for large V/U is continuous for U≲5.5 and first order for higher U.4 p.en-USScience & technologyPhysical sciencesPhysics, multidisciplinaryPhysicsTransitionDiagramChainsGeneral physicsGround state phases of the half-filled one-dimensional extended Hubbard modelArticle10.1103/PhysRevLett.92.2364010000-0002-5638-4619 (Sandvik, AW)60624
