It evaluated the effect of specific exercises on 1. Learning rate of children in beginning reading 2. Change in the child's auditory discrimination between likenesses and differences in words 3. Change in the child's visual perception of words, and 4. Actual reading score The experiment was carried on in an industrial city near Boston. Two groups of children in the first and second grades from the same district were selected for the experiment.
