PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS, Volume 72, Issue 17, pp. 2761 - 2764 (4). https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.72.27610031-9007https://hdl.handle.net/2144/37952We study a spinless two-band model at half-filling in the limit of infinite dimensions. The ground state of this model in the noninteracting limit is a band insulator. We identify transitions to a metal and to a charge Mott insulator, using a combination of analytical, quantum Monte Carlo, and zero temperature recursion methods. The metallic phase is a non-Fermi-liquid state with algebraic local correlation functions with universal exponents over a range of parameters.p. 2761 - 2764en-USScience & technologyPhysical sciencesPhysics, multidisciplinaryPhysicsFalicov-Kimball modelInfinite dimensionsHubbard-modelMonte-CarloTemperaturePhysical sciencesGeneral physicsCorrelation induced insulator to metal transitionsArticle10.1103/PhysRevLett.72.276151952
