Several different methods of binding handmade books, including basic pamphlet stitching, longstitch binding, coptic binding, Belgian binding and piano hinge bindings are explained. Some variations of these bindings and other simple bookmaking methods for children are exhibited. The researcher has addressed this concept by studying the history of bookmaking and papermaking. A brief look at paper surface techniques is included. The research was done through studying multiple bookbinding techniques involved handmade bookmaking, in addition to online research, teacher questionnaires and classroom observation.
