Abstract
This research project was undertaken to study the root canal anatomy of the mesial root and the furcation region of the mandibular second molar. The number of orifices in the pulp chamber, the number of main canals, the number and location of apical foramina, and the incidence and location of accessory canals, will be documented. This will provide the student of anatomy a more complete understanding of the complexities of the root canal system of this tooth.
