Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate dimensional changes after setting of five root canal sealers, including the new calcium hydroxide root canal sealers. Five root canal sealers were evaluated both qualitatively (visually and photographically) and quantitatively, using glass micropipettes of known volume. The results demonstrated that some sealers exhibited evidence of shrinkage after 7 and 3O days, while most sealers exhibited shrinkage after 90 days when allowed to set at room temperature and relative humidity (72[degrees]F [plus or minus] 20[degrees] and 50% RH [plus or minus] 2%).
