[Early in 1965, I started extensive field research on the African Initiated Churches (AICs) in Zimbabwe. I first had to drive into Zion City, the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) headquarters of Bishop Samuel Mutendi, situated at Mutarara in the Bikita district.
