Abstract
A quantitative study of the dentition of the Thomas Farm fossil horses indicates that Anchitherium clarencei Simpson, Miohippus sp. (?), Parahippus blackbergi Hay and P. leonensis Sellards occurred at this locality during the Early Miocene. The amount of cement on the teeth as a diagnostic character of Thomas Farm fossil horses is held to be invalid and in this case its importance as an indication of evolutionary grade is questioned.
