Description
This is the concert program of the The Empire Brass performance on Sunday, February 23, 1992 at 8:00 p.m., at the Tsai Performance Center, 685 Commonwealth Avenue. Works performed were Court Music of Queen Elizabeth by Anthony Holborne, Elizabethan Dance Suite by A. Holborne, Canzoni Nos. 6, 12, 22, 24, 31 by Samuel Scheidt, Madrigals by Don Carlo Gesualdo, Canzone No. 2 by Giovanni Gabrieli, Suite from "Water Music" by George Frideric Handel, Suite from "The Fairy Queen" by Henry Purcell, "Sheep May Safely Graze" from Cantata BWV 208 by Johann Sebastian Bach, "Wir eilen mit schwachen, doch emsigen Schritten" from Cantata BWV 78 by J. S. Bach, "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" ("Sleepers, Awake") from Cantata BWV 140 by J. S. Bach, and "Wie will ich mich freuen" from Cantata BWV 146.
