An evaluation of word study lessons in grade four

Abstract
The purpose of this study is the construction and evaluation of lessons which combine independent word analysis practice with meaningful response to the new words analyzed. The word-study lessons are evaluated as they affect: achievement in spelling, reading, word recognition, visual memory of word patterns, pronunciation, rscognition of homophones and phonetic ability.
