Abstract
Designed to mark the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement, this conference explores the often overlooked “on-the-ground” efforts operating at the intersections of gender, transitional justice and peacebuilding in Northern Ireland. Drawing on expertise from local cross-community activists and scholars with decades of expertise in the Northern Irish context, the conference has three main aims: (1) to develop a platform for the exchange of community-driven knowledge and projects that have been effective in maintaining the principles of the GFA/BA; (2) for the first time, to assemble in Boston a diverse and representative set of members of Northern Irish members of civil society on the campus of Boston University, and (3) to articulate a set of gender-based “lessons learned” from the GFA/BA that practitioners can carry into contexts outside of Northern Ireland.
