Abstract
The New Testament Canon and the Mishnah have long been studiedas self-contained units. If contextual analysis was done, it was usually within the confines of the developing Church in the case of the New Testament Canon, or as a part of the development of Rabbinic Judaism in the case of the Mishnah.
