Abstract
Until 1950, the dental profession placed little emphasis on the delivery of dental health services to the handicapped population. With an increased awareness of handicapped persons and their needs, as well as medical, the profession has become aware that treatment requires more than technical skill. This project analyzes the role dental schools are assuming to prepare undergraduate and graduate dental students to meet the dental health needs of the handicapped patient.
