Abstract
A descriptive/exploratory design was used to: (a) measure the prevalence of loneliness in the institutionalized elderly, (b) explore clinical and other speculations regarding the characteristics of the lonely, and (c) examine the relationship between loneliness and subjective health, spiritual well-being, and happiness.
