Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of thermocycling and aging on biaxial flexural and shear bond strengths of veneering porcelain to Y-TZP ceramics with various surface treatments and to evaluate the thermal shock behavior of veneered Y-TZP ceramics. Materials: Vita YZ zirconia and four conventional veneering porcelains were used: VITAVM[R] 9, Nobel Rondo[TM] Zirconia, Noritake CZR and Lava Ceram[TM]. Methods: I. Biaxial flexural test: a. Performed for Vita YZ zirconia at baseline and after thermocycling. b. Performed for Vita YZ zirconia at baseline and then at each succeeding year for three years. c. Performed for porcelain discs at baseline and then each succeeding year for three years. II. Shear bond strength test: a. Performed for Vita YZ zirconia at baseline and after thermocycling. b. Performed for Vita YZ zirconia at baseline and then at each succeeding year for three years. III. Thermal shock test: Performed for veneered zirconia treated with different surface treatments.
