Abstract
This study was designed to assess the benefits of antibiotic prophylaxis in endodontic surgeries. The use of antibiotic prophylaxis in endodontic surgeries is a common practice as a recourse to prevent post-surgical complications. No other endodontic investigation has evaluated post-surgical complications in patients with and without antibiotic prophylaxis.
This double-blind study was conducted to evaluate a total of 100 endodontic surgeries, half of the patients under antibiotic prophylaxis and the other half of the patients taking a placebo. The patients were evaluated and photographed the first and seventh day after the surgery was performed.
