Abstract
This study of the "church" and "sect" in the American Labor movement began with certain "types" developed in the Sociology of Religion. These types of the sect, "church" (ecclesia) and mysticism were described in detail by Ernst Troeltsch in his work, The Social Teachings of the Christian Churches. Certain important qualifications of the Troeltsch thesis were described. Our experiment then took the "types" from the Sociology of Religion and attempted to transfer them over into the Sociology of the Labor Movement. Various theories of the American labor movement were briefly reviewed.[Truncated]
