Abstract
Sixty mandibular cuspids were evaluated radiographically for the presence of apical curvatures, accessory canals, and calcifications. Histologically, forty-eight mandibular cuspids were studied via serial cross-sections. In a majority of cases, forty-six of forty-eight (95.83%), one major canal was observed. Two canals were observed 4.17% of the time. Accessory canals were observed in 37.50% of the teeth observed histologically. A knowledge of the occurrence of two canals and the incidence and location of accessory canals provides the practicing clinician and student of anatomy a more complete understanding of the complexities of this tooth.
