[History is nothing else but the biography of the strong personalities which have passed across the threshold of time and have left the imprint of their characters upon the strata of society. We may say without vacillating, that the history of the Hebrew people was made by the prophets. The nation, the ideals, the institutions, the religion, the moral fortitude, and the ethical character of Israel, all center and revolve around the strong and stalwart personalities of the prophets.]
