Abstract
To determine objective visual outcomes and subjective patient-reported satisfaction following LASIK and PRK with monovision. Monovision entails targeting the dominant eye for distance vision (emmetropic target) and the non-dominant eye for near or intermediate vision (myopic target), to minimize presbyopic patients’ spectacle dependence. Patients were given a survey to evaluate overall satisfaction levels, ease of performing daily tasks, post-op complications, and opinions regarding monovision, which was analyzed with the patients’ demographic information. 83% of patients reported overall satisfaction with their monovision experience, and there was no significant difference found between various monovision aims or whether the patient trialed monovision with contact lenses before surgery. Increased age was the largest predictive factor for unhappiness with post-op near vision.
