Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine subscribers’ satisfaction with a dental school sponsored, pre paid dental plan offered to sixteen post secondary educational institutions in the Boston, Massachusetts area. Administrators at these institutions were surveyed to determined their attitudes regarding the plan’s benefits to their student body. A survey of 191 subscribers was conducted to determine levels of satisfaction, sources of dissatisfaction, and subscribers’ demographic characteristics. The majority of subscribers were satisfied with The Dental Plan and 83% indicated that they would re-enroll. The most frequently cited factor which discouraged re-enrollment was the length of time procedures took. Members were predominantly white, single, female, and enrolled in undergraduate studies. The school administrators perceived The Dental Plan to be a worthwhile benefit for the students.
