Abstract
Since the configuration and specifications of the National Bureau of Standards full crown die presents frustrating problems to the researcher this study was undertaken to obtain specifications for three new dies with different finish line designs. Ten Prosthodontists each supplied 45 dies of which 270 were selected for the study, i.e. 27 dies from each Prosthodontist. 3 Preparation types on incisors, bicuspids and molars were utilized. Each die was measured photogeometrically and the results were analyzed. On the basis of the results 3 new dies were designed. During the course of this study valuable information regarding heights, diameters and convergence angles of clinical preparations was obtained. The reader is encouraged to study, accept, reject or dispute the findings, all in the interests of our profession.
