Abstract
[The Aztec Empire was the largest in Mesoamerican history. It was composed of three central citystates: Tenochtitlan, Texcoco, and Tlacopan. While exercising control over nearby towns and peoples from 1428 until 1521, these three powers provided militaristic, economic, and societal contributions to one another. While each maintained the central goal of expansion, they each had unique interests and methods of doing so. Despite any internal divisions, the Triple Alliance allowed the Aztec Empire to grow exponentially throughout the 15th and 16th centuries. It notably reached its height in the early 16th before falling largely as a result of Spanish colonialism.]
