Abstract
This study was concerned with two main issues: (1) How the properties of the task influence acquisition and retention. (2) How the properties of the learner influence acquisition and retention. The property of the task investigated was that of evaluative meaning and/or affectivity of certain concepts (words). The property of the learner investigated was that of score on the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (MAS).
Sujects
The subjects were students in a n introductory psychology course at Boston University. A high anxiety score (HAS) group and a low anxiety score (LAS) group were chosen on the basis of their scores on the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (MAS). [TRUNCATED]
