Abstract
Problem. The problem of the dissertation is to discover the place of religion in teacher education as implied in three value theories and to develop an axiological system, showing its implications regarding the role of religion in the training of public school teachers.
One of the most persistent and controversial problems in American education has been the relationship of religion to public education. Radically divergent solutions have been proposed by educators, citizens' committees, clergymen, jurists, and educational associations. No single approach to religion in education appears to be acceptable to the American public or to professional leaders of religion or education. [TRUNCATED]
