Abstract
It was the purpose of this study to determine, by a survey and analysis, whether the music curricula offered the prospective elementary school classroom teachers in 102 teacher-training institutions of southwestern United States are adequately providing these teachers with a musical background which will enable them to carry out a well-rounded music teaching program in their schools.
Nine states were selected for the survey, based upon the Music Educators National Conference division of the United States. The following list indicated the states and the number of schools within each state used for the study. [TRUNCATED]
