Abstract
The dynamic structures of proteins allows them to be conducive to a variety of potential interactions with themselves and with other proteins. The positive correlation between proANP and PAM suggests a partnership between the two proteins in their functions of maintaining good cardiac health and regulating body fluids. Through this study, we hoped to gain further knowledge on whether or not proANP and PAM are able to share an actual macromolecularinteraction, which would open doors to other questions about the relationship between the two proteins. We synthesized proANP-C∆30 by using a myriad of plasmid, expression, and purification techniques, and received PAM as a donation for the lab. We used N-terminal fluorescent labeling technology to add a fluorescent probe to our proANP-C∆30. This allowed us to use a fluorescence anisotropy binding assay to assess the interactions between proANP and PAM.
