Abstract
The thesis at hand, SCHOOLS OF DENTAL MEDICINE VERSUS APPLICANT POOL DECLINE: AN INFERENTIAL CONSPECTUS, began with a review of the literature to document the gravity of dental applicant pool decline. Past pool fluctuations were presented as were future pool predictions. The authoritative nature of the literature search endorsed study/thesis completion.
The research problem was written in a two-fold question format [Reference: Section I] .The investigator initially sought to determine how United States' schools of dental medicine were coping with the decline. The investigator next attempted to discover if school-based counteraction strategies were capable of exerting secondary forces on future dental applicant pool size, trend, and profile.
Experimental methodology comprised case-study site visits to a geographically-balanced sample of public and private schools of dental medicine within the United States. The researcher personally interviewed a like cross-section of the population at each of the seventeen [dental] schools studied [Appendix B]. In addition, attendance at relevant professional meetings [Appendix C] and a thorough search of the extensive [supplementary] reference bibliography [Appendix D] provided depth and perspective to problem interpretation[s] and solution direction[s] within each geographic region.
