Abstract
The possibility that oxytocin plays a role in initiating ovulation has been suggested (Hartman, 1962). Moreover, bioassays of the posterior lobes of the pituitary of the hen previous to and after oviposition indicate a depletion of oxytocic content for oviposition, and a subsequent reaccumulation, thus implicating oxytocin in a process closely related to ovulation [TRUNCATED].
