Abstract
PROBLEM:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in the personal-social characteristics of intermediate grade children resulting from a program of differentiated instruction.
Comparisons were made of teacher estimation of pupils' attitudes and interests, pupils' subject interests, pupils' estimation of their attitudes and interests; and the social distance among classmates for the control year versus the experimental year. Separate studies were made of changes in achievement.
Involved were thirty-five classrooms, taught both years by the same teacher, which included twelve fourth grade classrooms, nine fifth grade classrooms, and fourteen sixth grade classrooms. [TRUNCATED]
