Investigation into the reproducibility of pantographic tracing on medicated and non-medicated subjects at various body positions

Abstract
By the turn of the century, mandibular movements had become
a point of interest and controversy. Numerous philosophies have developed
since, including gnathology. One of the factors of gnatholoyy
is based on the concept of reproducibility of the border positions of
the mandible. The literature is often contradictory concerning this
topic. Much attention has been focused on these movements with the
increase in sophistication of equipment.
This investigation tested the reproducibility of pantogr aphic
tracings of the border movements of different subjects at various
positions of the body under medicated and non-medicated situations.
The tracings were made with the patient assuming a position of 45°
and 90° to the horizontal plane. The same subjects were adinistered
a muscle relaxant (Valium), and another series of pant ogr aphic tracings
were made under the same conditions. [TRUNCATED]
