Abstract
The availability of science training for public school teachers was investigated for the New England states for the period from 1635-1950. The New England area was selected for study because it served as the first exponent of teacher training in the United States and because it has always lent itself to treatment as a unit. Information on this subject was found to be unavailable except in a diffuse form. The results of this study might well serve as a unit of historical background material in the training of science teachers. [TRUNCATED]
